Don’t let the Deangelo’s association fool you-this is no pizzeria. the menu and food are some of the best you will find in this city. Top quality products, super fresh and great atmosphere.

About
Baton Rouge’s favorite family friendly steak restaurant. Specializing in steaks and hot tamales.

Review
This is only for steak lovers. I couldn’t believe I have never been here and after living here for so long. I will never enter an outback again.

Let’s get to pricing first. They sell by 1 1/2, 2, 3 PDs. Depending on the cut sirloin to tbone 18-22 bucks. If u figure it out the price sounds expensive but u can split it any way u want making it a great deal.

When the steak came I was in HEAVEN. I was speechless for 20 minutes. The fries and bread I didn’t care for.

This is a place where all that matters is STEAK. Smokey delicious and fresh…… a vegans nightmare.

I’m from New Orleans and I come to Baton Rouge often enough to go shopping and/or get cupcakes, and I now have another reason to come back! I came to Fat Cow as a recommendation from a friend, but was skeptical when I read reviews. I am happy to say that I came here, because the burgers are amazing! I got a petite 120 burger, and it was just perfect! I was surprised by how thick the patties were, in a good way though. I’m glad I got a petite, because the regular would have been way too much! It was so juicy and flavorful; I thought “I died and went to Heaven” like my friend said. The 120 burger comes with lettuce, caramelized onions, pickles, tomatoes, bacon, and I added mushrooms. The bun was sweet and buttery yum-tastic! This was the best burger I probably have ever had. The fries were also pretty good and topped with sea salt. My friend and I will definitely try the duck fat fries next time!

Oh Fat Cow, I’m drooling just thinking about how good you were.

PS did I mention the duck fat fries were awesome !!!!

I have probably been to this restaurant twenty times in the past eight years I have come to BTR. This place never fails to deliver when it comes to good food and great service.

As noted in other reviews, it is kind of tucked back away, and doesn’t look like much – either outside or in. But the food attracts a regular following of locals. The bar is ALWAYS packed and is usually my choice for eating.

I usually go with a dinner special – although the regular menu is extensive. I nearly always get the char-grilled oysters – they are prepared in the bar. No, they are not healthy, but this is Louisiana – enjoy the food! Last night I had a 7oz Filet Mignon special over fingerling potatoes with a red-wine and dijon sauce. For dessert, I tried the chocolate chip cheesecake, but should have stuck with my usual – the bread pudding.

The wine list is good, but if you want help, just ask Rodney, the sommelier.

Yummy food. Ate here with 2 coworkers on a weeknight and we were able to get a table with no wait. We averaged just over $50/person which included 2 shared appetizers, an entree each, drinks, plus tax and tip. The Village Bread is a must-have, and we enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes too. The tomatoes were a bit pricey at $15 for 4-5 slices, but came with a bunch of lumped crab meat on top which probably explains the pricey-ness. The entrees came in sizable portions which unfortunately eliminated the need for dessert. The side spaghetti was nothing amazing, so I’d recommend getting something else. Service was great and the food came out quickly.

We found the doors on 3rd St, with street parking close by.

I’ve been to Superior Grill probably about 8-10 times now and I’m glad I waited to review it, because my first experience wasn’t very good but every time after that I had a great experience!

This has got to be one of my favorites in BR. It is an old standby; by that, I mean my grandfather used to eat here when he was a student at LSU. This place also has the best Roast Beef PoBoy in BR. In fact, although I’ve found quite a few good seafood poboys here, this is about the only acceptable Roast Beef Poboy I’ve found in the city. It is better than just acceptable though; it is good. The pizza is also quite tasty.

The first time I went, I went kind of late and the place was pretty empty. I think it was a Monday or Tuesday night. The service was super slow, my food came out cold, and we waited forever for the check. Every experience of mine since then has been great though! I’ve had take-out from here for lunch numerous times and the food travels very well. I think they even give you bigger portions when you get it to go. My favorite is the fish tacos. They’re grilled, not fried! The rice is also really tasty, and I love the spicy white cream sauce that comes with the fish tacos. The margaritas are decent and the queso is delicious!

Upon walking in we were greeted as if I walked in to my Maw Maw’s house. “hey, how ya’ll doin’?” I waited for my hug and kiss on the cheek…then I came to my senses.
We had very attentive service, it was not overly micromanaged nor did I feel like I was on a deserted island. They have it down pat.
Ordered the spaghetti and 2 meatballs (glad they give you a choice) “Ma’am would you like 1 meatball or 2?” I was like huh, ah, 2 is always better than 1.
The sauce tasted like the good red ‘gravy’ we make back home in New Iberia. This was a great experience for me and If you have a chance to stop by, I would suggest you do so. Oh, and do not forget to have some of their garlic bread!
Ciao Baby!!

I have to say, this is definitely one of the best restaurants I have eaten at here in Louisiana. If not, the best. So far at least. If you go, there are two drinks you have to order. The honeycomb bourbon and the basil mintini. Both are so delicious! mmmm…. I’m drooling just thinking about them.

As for food, everything I ate was delicious. My boyfriend and I got two appetizers and a salad to share and left satisfied, so the portions are decent too. The appetizer special was a crawfish napoleon with fried green tomatoes. It was fabulous! And we also had the scallop appetizer, and that was amazing. My one complaint on that one was that I wanted more!! The salad I had was less than special, wouldn’t order it again, but it wasn’t bad. Had some citrus in it and yummy dressing. Cant wait to go back and try the Two Birds entree. There was also a new dessert on the menu, homemade sweet potato ice-cream with abita root beer. I ordered it but was very disappointed to find out they didn’t have it yet. Look forward to trying that as well.

Overall a very nice experience. Our reservation was for 7 pm on a Monday night and were greeted upon arrival and seated promptly at a table next to the wall of glass overlooking Third St. Very nice modern decor that mixed nicely with the old building. After a couple of cocktails we were treated to a delicious gnocchi and crab appetizer with a brown butter cream sauce and sweet corn that the chef was working on for an upcoming James Beard dinner. We followed that with the fried calamari and foie gras appetizers. The calamari was nice and crunchy and the foie gras was like an adult version of peanut butter and jelly. Very, very good.

A few more cocktails and we finally ordered our entrees. I had the ribeye topped with the blue cheese mushroom sauce and parmesan risotto. The partner had a filet with lump crab and the lobster mac-n-cheese. All dishes were delicious and generously sized. Steak temps were perfect. They have a very nice beer and wine list at reasonable prices with lots of wine by the glass and some great beer selections. (Not Chimes selection but still..)

We rounded off the meal with a dessert of mixed berries in a sort of white chocolate sabayon, although I was surprised that they only had two desserts that night and I really wanted something a bit more decadent. We ordered a Fonseca port and Nocello to go with dessert and unfortunately they only had ruby port not tawny. Oh well. The drinks were nice and strong as well and our waiter kept them filled all night.

Great time and we’ll definitely be going back. The service was efficient and unobtrusive.
